Oh no!  The bottom of the hutch!  My hen houses are up about two and a half feet off the ground.  Maybe I should put some mesh underneath it.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

I'm taking one of the attacked hens to the vet in a minute as her wing is still just hanging limply on the floor  :(

Just got back from vet and it's not broken or dislocated but he reckons it is badly damaged and she might not get back the use in it. We cross that bridge if and when but she's had painkiller and antibiotic. He's given me some antibiotic for the other injured hen and she took it (easily, phew) when I got back.  Poorly girl went straight to bed but I think at least she'll be pain free

I feel much better now that the vet's seen her, and very relieved that I still have my hens. Phew

Quick update  :)

My  hens are now mostly fully recovered after their mauling but one has still not laid since being hurt, but her feathers are growing back beautifully and she looks much better  :)

I have on order a 12 foot run so the three girls can have plenty of room to play when I need to go out.  I've hardly been able to leave them since the attack and have to lock them up in the small Eglu run for brief spells when nipping to the shops etc.  I'm now paranoid so it's been belt and braces here to ensure that Foxy doesn't get them again

I can't wait to get them into their new quarters and am planning what they're going to have in it to climb on and play with  :D

Ta  :)  I'll get a photo once my new coop is up.  It should be ready in a couple of weeks. The chap building it has just supplied us with a lovely new shed so I'm confident it will be a good one  :)

What a relief!  I'm home this week and have needed to go to the shops several times and worry the whole time about the hens being outside freeranging.  You must be so very relieved.  So it's official now, foxes are on the prowl big time.

Hi your message brought so many memorys back about when a fox got my girls the same time last year. I have dried the tears and i am so pleased that you girls are going to be ok. These foxes are not called cunning for no reason. Hugs Jeanette
