I have a 26 week old that is I am  guessing broody loss of feathers (found in nest box) sitting on nest (its a rollaway egg) box.

I got two hybrids in February, around 15 weeks old.  One went broody just after she started to lay at approx 22 weeks, I separated her for 4 days & all seemed well til the next week!! after separating again & again I gave in & got some eggies for her to sit on, we now have 5 babies, 5 weeks old & she is a brill mummy!!!!!!!!!

No she is supposedly a Scots Grey (ebay hatching egg) I do not beleive she is a pure breed and has something else in her, due to the tint of feather and colour of egg.

My CouCou Maran went broody in about the same time period as yours, Roughlee.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Photos are deceiving, I have two Marans and she looks nothing like them. Colour may be but size and shape different ends of the spectrum.

Hi Foxy,
Is this correct? I thought they where called 'Cuckoo Marans' and are a pure breed  ???
But there is so many new hybrids springing up, that look just like the pure breeds.  ::)
