Runner bean seeds
« on: September 11, 2009, 10:18 »
Are they edible? Most of my runners are going to seed due to experiment & lack of time on the plot but would they be ok to eat?

We use the beans from overgrown runners, and cook them with the "correct" size runners.  They're good.
But not sure if they'd be OK if rock hard  ???
By themselves, they may be a bit floury.

You can dry them (or freeze them) and use them in casseroles and stews :)

I have quite a few of these as well, Stig.

Would I need to soak them overnight?

Thanks.
Top tip for camping....don't go.

i would think you'll have to soak then as this reduce the cooking time
