Damaged Comb
« on: September 10, 2009, 20:29 »
One of my girls has managed to damage the rear part of her comb. It has come away from the top of her head by a slight tear. Will it heal itself? She seemed fine in herself when i gave her some corn. Advice please.

Yes.  If it is blooming or bleeding treat it with Gentian (Purple) Sray which will not only protect it from any fungal infection but discourage the other hens from pecking at it and making it worse.  In severe cases of damage the damaged area may die, dry and drop off and a new comb will grow back slowly.
