What absolutely beautiful birds!

Sorry Hannah I know nothing about them, but just had to comment.

Good luck with finding him a lovely lady to perk him up a bit  :)

:) im glad that he doesn't crow loudly!
our light Sussex as just started to think about it and it making a pathetic cock-a-doodle now, but we cant keep him if he crows loudly :(.

- General isn't loud anyway so i don't think he will have a loud crow - if he did i would be surprised!.
:D glad his legs are fine - and i have had a look at our Appenzellars and they are similar, but he doesn't want to be friends with any of our flock. =[ not even with the silkies.

He is alot perkier this morning and is drinking fine (he has got a vitamin supplement in his water) and is eating well, so i think hes fine
As for a girlfriend i haven't been able to track down anyone that sells Polish near me :(
and i haven't a clue who his previous owner was.

I will keep you posted - if you hear of any polish hens in suffolk let me know!

Thanks for all your help it very appreciated!

are Poland Chamois known to be quite quiet birds on their own - as the general is very quiet most of the day, and sleeps alot.

Could their be a possibility that hes very old?
is their anyway to tell the age of him?

and do you know of any great books that have lots of information about Poland Chamois

Thanks :D

Hey everyone
here is the general and his new wife

shes a blue poland frizzle - i have heard but im not too sure if its more of a myth or rumor that if two frizzles or two smooth polish breed the chicks are bald - but if this is right how come not all polish are slightly frizzle or slighty smooth?!?

and he has perked up no end and is steadily gaining weight and is eating the pellets now not just corn and chick crumbs. he even had a whole plum (and didnt share with his wife )

and they are so happy together they snuggle up for an afternoon nap :tongue2:

Thanks once again to you all

Hi Hannah, she is gorgeous, lucky you getting her and lucky General, fancy not sharing his plums
You aren't meant to breed from 2 Frizzles because it can mean over frizzled babies, and this isn't good. If you use 1 frizzled and 1 smooth there is in theory 50/50 chance of either then.
What have you called her-she needs a posh name to go with General? :)
We have 17 chickens, 3 quail, 2 dogs, 3 cats and that's enough (for this week)
