well, so far so good. she was up on her feet this afternoon; her leg has been bathed and has stopped bleeding, and she has now managed to eat and drink a bit. I've still got her separate from the others to give her time, her eye is still closed but it isn't yucky or anything. I shall see how she is tomorrow, and go from there, but she definitely looks a whole lot better than she did this morning.
thanks for offer agapanthus, if she's not too good tomorrow, I shall PM you to borrow the run if that's ok.
as they say, where there's life there's hope, fingers crossed

Sure no problems Purple...just give me a pm. By the way I think I said hello to your puppy last Sunday!!!

by the way, latest update, she's looking even stronger today, obviously not better, but I think she's going to be ok, her eye is still closed but not puffy or red anymore, and her leg is healing well, considering that first night i really didn't think she'd be there in the morning, not sure whether to try her back with the others tonight or to leave it a bit longer, shall see what she's like later

Do you know how it happened PB ?  If it was the other girls pecking her then reintroduce very carefully.  Can they still see each other during the day time ?  That will aid reintroduction, but I'm sure you know that already

I will do it gradually, they can see each other and my Silkie is fretting about her buddy, those two are inseperable; Silkie has just been sitting at the side of the run looking at her

I can only think it was the other birds, I can't think how else it could have happened; I've never noticed any animosity before but if she was already poorly it may be the weakest of the species mentality  :?:

Do a good check for rats PB   though pecking is the most likely  :!:  Before you reintroduce her spray any bits of her that you think might get pecked again with purple spray.  This will help to deter them,  good luck  :D

I did think of rats but the ones we have round there wouldn't have stopped at a bite; if she was that weak they would have finished her off. and the wound on her leg is a round shape no teeth marks; I think this may have to be a gradual process

this isn't a latest update I'm afriad but a final one; when to see her this morning and she's died during the night, I hadn't put her back with the others, so it wasn't them, I think she just gave up fighting
