Leeks disappearing

Hi there

We've lost a few leeks - a couple more every day.  All in one row so far.  They're either disappearing or falling over.

Is there something that will cut through them?  And what measures can I take?

No, they've had loads of water, and the ones that are left are starting to put on some growth.  This is something eating them I reckon.

Will investigate this evening, but it would be good to have some pointers.

If you have a new plot that has been uncultivated it could be the dreaded wireworm (clickbeetle larvae) or cutworm (cranefly larvae). Fingers crossed it is'nt...can take up to 5 years to get rid of wireworm
Try planting some more seed in pots...you may be a bit more sucessful
Apologies.....cutworm is the caterpillar a moth :oops:
Leatherjacket is the larvae of the cranefly......it loves to just cut through the roots.
