Mice - Problem??????
« on: September 07, 2009, 21:11 »
Hi,

I have 2 welsh harlequin ducks which are now 10 weeks old.
The other morning I found a dead drowned mouse in the pond which is inside their pen.
I have also found droppings since under the duck house.
Are mice a problem?
Do they pose any threat if they get in the duck house?
I have set a humane trap up but is it worth catching them I was going to set them free a few miles away?

I do hose the duck pen down every night to try and wash any food away but they are clearly finding some food!

Any advice appreciated

Regards
Darren

Send the chickens in, they'll sort 'em out  ::)
(Not humanely though)  :(

I think you'll find it's illegal to set stuff free a mile or so away, I might be wrong ???

The mice themselves wont do any harm but do watch for them nibbling wood to get into the duck house, they could make it easier for larger critters to get in :(

I would say it's best to keep them in check.  They will love the food that gets spilled and breed quickly, but yes, it is illegal to release them somewhere else  :(

Ah ha!  I think they are under cover cops lurking in the undergrowth waiting for people to release vermin so they can  pounce on them with handcuffs!

I went to prison for 20 yrs for letting a mole go in a field full of sheep.  I was ambushed by the vermin squad.  The judge showed no mercy for my complete disregard of other people grass.
