I've been using a Breville juicer, its fine with most veg, but lets me down with light weight, leafy material. I've had poor health for a number of years and have been researching my way back to my former days of good health ... and juicing is just part of that research.

My hens are fighting over the left over pulp, and they know naturally whats good for them!

My reason for starting the thread, was, as its a veggie growing forum just to see if there was any or much experience of the long term benefits of taking the juice?

Thanks everyone.

Cheers

 :)
Best Regards,

We spent the night with some friends a few weeks ago and drank the most amazing juice the next morning at breakfast. Their juicer was a pretty serious affair - I think it was American, but they bought it because it was dead easy to wash it out. They'd done their research! The thing was white, about 40-50cm long and it sat on the counter top. To be honest, I thought it was a sausage making machine when I first saw it. (They are farmers, so not an improbable bit of kit!)
I was well impressed.

Found it here:
http://www.ukjuicers.com/champion-2000-juicer-white

Trouble is:  the price !
Apparently it works by squeezing the juice out, rather than "spinnining" it out through a screen.

Blimey! That's steep for a fruit/veg juicer. However, the juice we had was fab and it was dead easy to clean.

We bought our juicer  - a matstone, from http://www.juiceproducer.com/lifestyle.php- its a masticating juicer so does less damage to the things we put through it than centrifugal types - unfortunately you have to chop up everything quite small (which they forget to tell you) and takes too long realy - I'm not so that bothered about the nutrition as the taste of the juice --- my fav. is 1apple; 2beetroot and 4carrots together - lovely - and if you do have a juicer have you tried just 2-3 drops of cream in a glass of carrot juice - you must try it!

(I'm new to this - don't know if my link is live or not till I post)

Sure have -- just looked on e-bay, lots new of course - two used just once or twice, - one fellow describes it as 'the best slow juicer on the market' --- it works well but really is a grind.

Well, its cheaper than the one I found  :D
Have you tried putting fruit like rasps, blackberries or blackcurrants through it ?

Well I got myself a L'Equip Omni juicer ... a slow speed, single auger juicer ... I've been growing my own wheatgrass in a few trays and it makes a very nice juice!

Our fav juice is wheatgrass, parsley, celery, spinich, carrot and apple all home grown at the moment ...

I'd give the juicer a good 7*'s out of 10, its quiet, juices well, and quick to clean.

Cheers

"Kenwood juicer"
Have you tried it on blended blackberries and raspberries ?  Does it produce a lot of pulp, or take out just the pips?

Sorry for delay, tode.  No, I tend to just juice vegetables.  I like to blend fruit into smoothies to keep all the fibre in.

That champion juicer is great - it really masticates up the fibre and you get less waste.  You can even use it to make banana ice cream!
* peel bananas, freeze, stuff through champion, it comes out as creamy ice cream!!  :D
