New chook keeper
« on: September 04, 2009, 21:02 »
Hi all,  great site for lots of info for new keepers that r still on a learning journey with our feathered friends.  Got my first 2 light sussex about 8 weeks ago.  Bought a coope off the internet that supposed to house 4 chooks, got it and soon realised that it wouldnt.  Made myself a temp pen with the aid of garden cane and veg netting. Have Hilda very friendly, had to return 1 hen that was not!!!!(a hen) due to the noise.  About 3 weeks ago was given 2 more xbreed so now down to 3.  We have built more substantial pen out of pallets.  It has just rained that much that the girls have turned the run into a bog.  Hope eventually let them out in garden still in training mode with 2dogs and a cat.  No eggs yet hens not quite old enough hope its all worth the fun and games we have had, when they escaped and had to climb all the garden fences as night was closing in and the were hardly visable.  Sure I will be asking lots of usual questions.

Just thought would post pics of my chooks as obligatory, and had to get the dogs in as well.

Next up will be the cat & rabbits
