Hi All,
            Is  it possible  to take cuttings  from raspsberry  canes.  If so  when is the best time to do so.   Thanks

You can, but not many do.

Raspberry canes will throw up suckers in the Spring and can easily be chopped off from the parent plant & moved ready rooted.

This is by far the easiest & more sucessful way of propagating them.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I dug up some runners that had grown away from the parent plant and planted them up about 6 weeks ago to increase my stock. The runner was attached to its parent by shallow root but had its own root system as well so they have taken and look good. I didn't do it at the right time really, I should think now on would be OK , when they've finished fruiting and you're ready to tidy them up. Keep them watered.  I'm sure someone with more experience will give you a bit more info :D
The less time you have, the more becomes available.

The recommended time for moving raspberries is November/December, but you can get away with it at other times of the year.
