My biggest success started off as the biggest failure.

My outdoor grown Cuore di Bue and St Pierre tomatoes!

Initially I was letting them get way to ripe on the plant, and were too soft, but once someone on here suggested picking them earlier, (VERY obvious silly thing I had overlooked), the difference in taste and texture, was chalk and cheese.

These are by far my best success absolutey tonnes of them,  20 or so jars of Green Tomato Chutney,  5 jars of Sun-Dried (oven dried) from excess ripe ones,  and about 5 (400g) batches of cooked tomato sauce in the freezer.  Not to mention weeks and weeks of delicious tomato salads.

Outstanding from less than a dozen plants.

Despite having grown sweetcorn reasonably successfully in the past, the last 2 years efforts have been pathetic bordering on embarrassing.

Despite this summer having been not much better, I have done very well with "Swift"; some of the plants have 3 good cobs, the others 2 each. I think there were 3 reasons for this: 1) feeding, 2) feeding some more, and you can probably guess what 3) is!

Sweetcorn is a very hungry plant (and my soil is very light as mentioned elsewhere)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

1.  Cherrolla Tomatoes are my biggest success.  In the greenhouse and outside against a warm, sheltered wall.  I have been picking these since mid-july and there are still loads to come.

2.  Anya potatoes - my first attempt at potatoes and these were numerous and very tasty.

3.  International Kidney potatoes  - just behind the Anya in flavour, but very high yield.

Redcurrants at 4lb per bush.
Redcurrant vodka, soak the redcurrants in a kilner jar half and half with the vodka, add 3 leaves of mint and shake now and again.
Left for 4 weeks, sieved and chilled, dont take it to a party as I did unless youre prepared to share and kiss it goodbye.
