I always laugh at the courgettes in shops, they growing like weeds on my plot ).
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Brings me out in a rash when I see the price of fruit: rasps, blackcurrant, etc.  Not that they're often in the shops, anyway.

Raspberries as about £10 a kilo makes my crop worth about £350 alone.

Don't get me started on runner beans at £4.44 a kilo.  >:(
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Can you tell me whether your Florence Fennel "bulbed up"  I grew this last year and all looked well on top of the ground, but underneath there was just a tiny white root, but no bulb.  I kept them in the ground until the greenery died down, but still no growth.  I have the same grouble with my radishes - no bulb.

I'm going to use up the seed packet of my fennel and not bother again, lots of peoples didn't bulb up last year.  I have had the same problem with some my radishes now and again.  Someone on here suggested planting deeper.  I always grew French breakfast, changed variety to scalet globe and cherry belle, they seem to grow ok throughout the season.  As Christine says they don't seem keen on too much heat, my French radish at beginning of the season were enormous and healthy looking, but once warmer weather started they looked pathetic.

I love my free strawberries and raspberries and love them even more when I see the price in the shops to buy.

I was just saying to OH yesterday, some things are great to grow for the better taste, i.e. toms, sweet pepper, new tats, Some are good to grow for the money save, and some are convienient to have outside your kitchen door.  Its a bonus when all three apply.

The record must be the blackberries ( !!! ) that I recently saw at £44 per kilo.
Feel sorry for those that buy em at that price.
