Brinsea Mini Incubator advice - Babies! (pics)
« on: August 31, 2009, 13:34 »
We are incubating 6 eggs in a Brinsea mini advance (1st time), and today is day 19.

In the instructions it states that if the program is on 'Auto' (it is), then it automatically stops turning the eggs when the countdown reaches 2.

The countdown today says '2', and it is still turning.  Should I be worried if it doesn't stop, or should I try to manually turn off the 'turning'?

Hope that makes sense lol.

the eggs are meant to stop turning on day 18, this gives the chicks a chance to settle into the hatch mode so to speak, i would try and turn off the automatic turner and don't panic, many eggs have hatched after being turned after day 18.

Thanks very much TMG, I have managed to turn the auto to off, so it's now not turning.

I've seen some eggs 'wobbling' though.... fingers crossed!

Can you hear them cheeping yet through the shell?

Don't forget to light the brooder, mines parrafin so takes a day or so to warm up, i always nearly forget with the excitment of hatching.

Day 20 now...

I can't hear any cheeping yet, maybe because they are inside the incubator still?

...but we have out first pip!

Here is a pic!

He now have babies!
From pipping yesterday morning, they started 'unzipping' about 9am this morning, and we now have 3 chicks, 2 black, one yellow.
2 are still 'pipping', and one isn't doing anything yet :(
