are chives as good as garlic ?

does anyone have any knowledge as to whether chives are as good as garlic.

we now how no chives left in the garden as the chucks have eaten them all, i just buy another plant from the supermarket, but as they are the same family as onions, which they also like, especially spring onions, and my leeks which are in trays to go to the allotment, do they have the same properties, ie good for them, or they just love the taste ?

Hey grumpydad. Chives are supposed to have similar properties to garlic, i.e. can be beneficial to the circulatory system, but not in the same strength as garlic. Also, I am not sure if chives have the anti-bacterial properties that garlic has.

So, in answer to your question, no, chives aren't as good as garlic but are still yummy, whether you are a person or a chook

i wouldnt know about eating them, dont get the chance.....lol...their need is greater than mine

Friend of mine chops up a onion for her girls they love it so do mine. All the onion fam is good for humans and animals.

Don't know about onion but too much garlic can, apparently, make your eggs garlic flavoured. Although, personally, I don't see too much of a problem with that. Unless you are baking a cake
