Been looking for an organic control for caterpillars. Thuricide pops up on most searches but is not available in the UK

Any suggestions

By the way I have too large an area to cover with mesh etc

You could try liquid derris but you have to keep applying it as it wears off - my allotment neighbour uses a spray made by Bayer (can't remember the name) but I'm not sure I'd want to eat it as it smells pretty potent!

Thuricide is a bacterial mixture. Mixed with water and sprayed on the bacteria attack the caterpillars. It is organic. No idea of cost or how effective it is.

Derris liquid is a banned substance due to its links with nervous disorders so you would not want that.

Salt water spray may be an alternative. Never tried it but I understand it knocks caterpillars off.

best method,squash them with ya fingers,takes a long time if there are loads.but no spraying ,better for you/

i cut them in half with my shed keys ,take great enjoyment in it,,hahahaaa
