Embarasing I know, but how do you pickle beetroot

Do you have to boil the beet first? Peel it?

What vinegar do you use? White? Malt?

Do you boil the vinegar?

Sorry for all the questions on such an easy topic
but as they say it's only easy if you know.

Thats not as easy as it sounds. Matilda Duck says its her's and i'm sure she sleeps with it under her pillow.
