When I saw the price of the antiseptic spray for poultry I was spitting feathers, not growing them.
Cheese makes everything better.

Everything's pricey. Sadly, stuff like diatom weighs lots and costs a lot of postage so it's sometimes a toss up between a bit of petrol+high price tag or >£10 postage.

Grit, as said. Poultry grit has oyster shell and/or limestone chippings in for calcium. Most important  :)
Something to prevent redmite. Diatom if you can get it or Red Mite Powder.
Apple Cider Vinegar from a horsey/chickeny place. Plastic drinker only.
Possibly Poultry Shield to clean out with. And/or Stalosan for disinfecting coop and run.
Errrrmmmm.

sorry to hijack ice's thread, but why plastic drinkers only? i was curious about this one. do the metal ones leach metal poison or something?

That's true actually, oddpaws!
I have a chair in my chicken enclosure and sit for hours drinking tea & watching them.

Got a feeling Ice will be exactly the same  :D

I don't have a chair in there but I do sit outside and watch them.  I even worry about them when I go shopping. ::)

A sense of humour - chickens are funny!

Oh and I got so paranoid abt something attacking them at night (am new to this chicken keeping lark too) I had to buy ear plugs as I kept leaping out of bed every time I heard a noise in the garden!!

They certainly are funny.   :)

Brother said one of them is making laying noises, so fingers crossed.  She is more developed than the other two with a red comb and wattles.  The others don't have them yet.  Is she in for a surprise.
