Please tell me you are joking, grumpydad!  You must surely have made the odd clandestine purchase in Ann Summers over the years...?  ;)

Completely off subject, but talking of strange ground coverings ...
The local riding school uses crocodile skin   . Says its not aggresive to the horses' feet.
On top of that, its blue crocodile skin.

Well of course they take the skin off the crocodile first
Wouldn't keep still otherwise.

Could take off Ruby Red, perhaps it could be a combined retailer of poultry items and ladies, er,  foundation garments.  Since there seem to be regular conversations on here about bare bottoms and frilly knickers, they two things could go together nicely!

And tode - crocodile skins?  Isn't it illegal or something?  Oh, actually, no, you're in France so even if it is illegal, the French would ignore the law and do it anyway  :tongue2:

No, no, Amanda,  the French don't particularly ignore the law.
They just make laws for other people, and then do what they want ....

I have a flock of 11 in about 64 sq yards of permanent run - they get some limited time out over the winter when they can do no harm to my garden. I chuck everything into the run throughout the year - weeds, their veggie greens, suitable prunings (they love vine leaves) - every couple of months I take of the top couple of inches and add it to my compost heap. In the autumn it gets a bit of a dig with lime, just to loosen it up.

In winter I cover it in leaves - I have a big beech hedge and those leaves take a while to break up, but anything I can sweep up. Also I can get small bales of straw (these took some locating despite my rural location) and I chuck a covering of straw in when it gets ridiculously muddy.

Not a blade of grass in sight I have to admit, but they dig up good worms  :D

Also, even in hot damp weather (and I've had a bit of that this year!) it really doesn't smell even when you are in there up close and personal.

3 o'clock is both too early and too late to start anything - Sartre said so.

Actually, yes tode, you're quite right, I had things all the wrong way about!  :tongue2:

And thank you Jane-M for dragging to conversation back to the original subject  :D

I could cope with Ann Summers but once we got onto EU rules and French anarchy I thought the time had  come.  :D
