Sick Chick!
« on: April 27, 2007, 17:55 »
We bought a couple of chicks (and ducks) the other week and one may be unwell. :(
She seems happy enough in as much as she is eating and getting about very well, but I heard her 'gurgling' as she was breathing and then I noticed her seem to sneeze, it's the best description that I can give.
I have seperated her from the rest and hope she is not infectious.
None of the others are showing any similar signs at this time.
Can anyone help ?
Q.What is the definition of a smallholder?
A. A man, outstanding in his field.

She obviously has some kind of respiratory infection.  I would contact the supplier and see if they have any other birds with a similar problem,  they might know what it is!

If she was mine I would consider taking her to a vet, but not everyone is as soppy with their chooks as I am

My vet is always happy to treat my chickens symptomatically. I probably know more about chooks health than she does

On the Omlet forum we have a list of chook friendly vets : Chicken Friendly Vets  :D
