Anyone grown quinoa?  I planted some in the spring and it's very tall - pretty plant, but not flowering yet. I was wondering whether we have a long enough growing season, and whether anybody has ever managed to harvest it?

And there is also a selected variety which grows better in the UK (for damp and cool conditions) but I don't know the variety name. check local seed companies.

Yes, they won't be ready for a while yet. Just pick off the long branches and put in a bag and when all dry, it crunches down and then it can all go straight in the bin [I hated it, sorry - never again].

I love quinoa. but you must rinse it very well to take off a sort of 'soapy' coating on the grains to make it more tasty. I boil mine in chicken stock and its really nice. Loads of protein in quinoa.

I didn't realise you could grow it here. Nice one. Definately growing this next year. It doesn't taste great - but it's good for you...

There are some Quinoa seeds on the Real Seeds website in the grains section. Not noticed it anywhere else, but then again I've not looked.
