The reward of a thing well done is to have done it....

We've been naughty and not been to the allotment since Tuesday :S

So we went down today and were rewarded with 9 courgettes (yellow and green) French beans (lots) a few runner beans & 2 cucumbers- so we shared the booty with nan who we then took out for Sunday lunch :)

This morning I picked some more runners and chard to go with Charlotte potatoes and a pork chop for lunch :)
Tea time I picked a cue some baby salad leaves and a cherry tom to put in my crusty roll!
I just love this time of year  ;)

Today's dinner; or, part of it anyway.
Haven't included the various lettuce leaves, rocket, spring onions and beetroot.

The successes and failures of each year keep me motivated for the following year.

They really, really do taste much better after a good frost. I wasted one once by digging it up early.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Yeah it says this on the growing packet after a frost for best results , but with this being my first year ... i thought i wouldn't have a chance a growing them ... so i had a little peep to see how they were getting on  ;)

more new spuds (had them for tea... amaaaaazing!), a handful of peas, the last of the sugarsnaps, some mangetout that went over so I de-shelled them and cooked as peas... and harvested my Kale early... under duress.  >:(

The kales next to it have been attacked by a hoarde of mealy aphids... monstrous colony of them.... so decided to cut my Nero di Toscana kale a month early rather than let the blighters take it over.
Its a cut and come again, so might get some new growth once I've sorted the mealy aphids out.
Horrid things.

Been gathering ladybirds from all over the plot today and setting them down on it.... lets hope they can eat many times their own body weight in aphids!

Had a furtle at my maincrop spuds and was amazed at how advanced they are. I ended up coming away with 16 tennis ball sized king edwards for tonights meal and a dozen golden wonder for tomorrow, and only 1 nibble mark. :)

:) :) :) feeling very smiley. Apart from the lettuces over the last week we've had a serving of broad beans and radishes. More beans and radish to come but the cabbages are hearting up nicely so shall start on those. Onions pickable and tempting. Want a sneaky look a tatoes but resisting.

As we're still in out first 6 months and still have a lot of work to do feel very proud.
When I arrived, there were so many docks, I thought it was Southampton.
