Colour Of Chickens Eyes
« on: August 01, 2009, 12:55 »
When I bought three of my last girls at a sale they had lovely green eyes - however, whilst they are still lovely they have changed to the standard orange colour does anyone know why - could it be one of those nasty sales tactics people use when selling chickens at a sale like saying they are on point of lay, but in fact there legs are dull so are somewhat older than point of lay etc etc etc   Thanks

youngsters eye colour will change from chick to adult. Some chickens have a light bay colour right to the lovely big choc eyes of a dark cochin or australorp :)

Hi Thanks
I know as babies our eyes can change, just had not realised the chickens would - shame really as I loved the soft green colour... nevermind they are lovely anyway :D
