hello to all members,i'm new to this website,and have recently taken over an allotment in morpeth,northumberland.
i have some goosebery,blackcurrant,rasberry bushes, and strawberry plants.
the soil is heavy clay,is this suitable for these?

Yes, clay is actually a bit better for fruit bushes as it has more natural nutrients than sandy soil and retains water. but on the downside, when it dries, it really dries hard. Each spring and fall add lots of organic amendments like compost, rotted manure, blood and bonemeal, even shredded leaves to feed the soil and eventually loosen it up to a nicer tilth. If you get dry times, be sure to water all the raspberries and strawberries well. Currants and gooseberries can fend well for themselves.
