gladioli fading what to do now
« on: July 30, 2009, 20:03 »
Hello have had a lovely - but short show of my allotment gladioi, but they are now fading.  Should I cut them down and leave the corms in the ground?

Don't cut them let them die back naturally, so that the goodness returns to the corm for next years flowers :)
Don't know if the new varieties are any hardier, but my dad used to lift his every year to plant again the next. I only have the wild hardy Byzantium variety, so i leave mine in :)

Great, thanks for quick reply.  It is hard to see them dying and not "fiddle"  :wub:around with them  but will resist
