Hello

Just got 2 gold laced orps (beautiful)
At the moment they are not in the main house with the others. I have them in a run during the day give them growers pellets.
When can I give them mixed corn yet, I use this to get all my birds in so I dont want to let the newies free range until Ive got them responding to my 'corn call'
Also grit and oyster shell, are they old enough for these supplements yet?

yes mostly to above, mixed corn only a rare treat though and keep on growers until the autumn, orps are slow maturing and will need growers for a bit longer, layers can stimulate laying and on a young heavy breed that can be a problem, particulary this time of year, I would be happier if they started laying next spring when more mature, just my opinion though...

I would feed them groers pellets until at least 20 weeks, corn as a treat in an evening is fine, also grit and oyster shell.

I'll start giving them my 'corn call' tommorrow.
I'll also have have to learn how to post pic's, I think I've taken more of the chickens than I have of the kids!
