taking ducks to water...
« on: July 29, 2009, 15:11 »
Sorry to keep on about my now young ducks (guess about 10/11 weeks).... but please can you advise?

They are still scared of the bullying older ducks, who rush in to terrorise them in the garden at every opportunity!  I'm worried because they only have a couple of cat litter trays for water, change daily of course, but a few yards away right next to the house have a whole river (which they used as tiny ducklings with their mum).   They won't go to the river, and twice we have guided them down, the adult drakes have rushed at them and chased them away.

Question is... if I took the litter trays away, would their instinct make them go to the river?  Also, will they eventually get used to each other (the drakes and the young)?  Still looking for forever homes for them and their pretty little mum!

Thanks

Heather

Hopefully things will get easier for the youngsters as the drakes start to calm down and go into moult ;)

I take it theres some drakes in that lot????  It's still mating season (well it is in our garden)  The drakes will be fighting over placement!!!  Who's top drake and all that.  Not as vicious as chickens though! :(
All will calm down and all will get on you'll see!!!! :nowink:
