well the courgettes, pumpkins and butternut squash are going great guns but my marrows which are inbetween this lot haven't got any fruit on them, there are lots of lovely yellow flowers but nothing behind them, does this mean they are male flowers, please tell me what I need to do to help them along or is it too late?

yes they are male. the females come next and they is a little fruit behind the flower for the females. i planted my marrow late so the females have just appeared. a guy on the plot put his in in mid may and he has been collecting huge marrows for at least three weeks now.
no its not too late for you to get marrows off the plants. I noticed that once the fruit sets they swell up quickly, I think no more than three weeks (plz correct me if I am wrong, first time growing).

they've got loads of room and the plants are pretty big just no fruits, so, from what you've said I should get some female flowers soon ?

yes. just hope when they come that the weather is decent as they may fall off and not "set".
