Turnip leaves
« on: July 20, 2009, 07:19 »
Who eats their turnip leaves? I think mine are past it for this year as are now full of holes, didnt realise butterflies liked them too, so werent netted.
Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else.

My turnip leaves are coarse and prickly!  I don't want to eat them.

I think you will find that the holes are caused by flea beetle, which run around on the soil and are not stopped by nets.

Cheers,

Gillie

The leaves get hairy when a bit older. Try growing sprouting turnip tops....they are very quick to grow and taste delish!!

Aah, now that makes sense, because my leaves are coarse and prickly too.
Thanks for the flea beetle tip.
