Hi all. Just got back from my holidays, to find this little beast amongst my carrot bed.......

It's definately not Queen Anne's Lace!

I can only assume, a rouge carrot must have germinated last year, and overwintered? ( I grew Caulis there last year, with Runner beans in the next bed???  ) 
Now, My question is, can I save the seed easily? I have been having a root round the interwebby and I think it's  all about cutting the drying umbels off and drying further, before harvesting the seeds.... Has anyone else tried this?

This may well have come in your carrot seed. It should not have been there but occasionally one gets through the seed producers quality control. Seed from this will most probably produce a lot of carrots that go to seed in their first season like wild carrots

A couple of my Autumn Kings and the majority of another one I've tried did this. I didn't think it possible for carrots to go to seed in one year but they did.

I sowed them quite early so I wonder if the warm and cold weather has made them think two years have passed? Or perhaps just some duff seed.

I've pulled and resown anyway so if it happens this time I'll contact the supplier.
