Hello and welcome to the site Bert, most of the experts are either off line or on holiday etc ,but you could try here  under lawnmower applications, or just give them a ring they are very helpful.http://www.bearing-supplies.co.uk
or try Muntjacs site which is http://oldautocultomachinery.myfreeforum.org/

mornin, Bert.
having a look in my bumper book of belts, the size you need for a mountfield M1 cultivator is:
w1/2xd5/16x0.d27"xi.d.25"
its sometimes listed as: 4L270K (A25K)
original part number was: MX553
central spares part number( if you go to a mower spares shop): 25783

hope that helps mate. :D

My M1 is 5hp and has the two belt set up but i think the 3hp models had just one belt. I cannot see any reaon for the belt to be different just one or two of them.

Take whats left of your belt to your loacal BSL (bearing services Ltd) and match it. Not only will they have one, it will be cheap. All these belts are just "v" belts of various sizes all of which are used in industry. They are not made for our rotovators specialy.
