KT have you checked on the back of the packet? - I've not staked mine up and although they look quite pathetic next to the runner bean frame, they're doing just fine - I picked a basketful today.

I grow lots of bush beans, and I stick a few twigs in the ground - about 2ft ish tall - just to give them something to lean against....

I packet doens't say anything about support :(

Tbh im starting to wonder if they are "climbing beans" in the wrong packet becuse im really not sure how on earth they are supposed to stand up unaided.
their stalk's look far to thin to support any weight they don't even have beans on yet and they are struggling.

It seems to be a 'tall bean' year!  My dwarf French beans have gone up to two feet, but are now starting to crop.  The same phenomenon seems to be affecting other people.

Just prop them up as best you can.

Cheers,

Gillie
