hi all

i have notice that two of my hen are sleeping out the hen house
they seem to be sleeping on the top perch in the run see pics
i not been shutting the door at night for about couple of weeks now
with the warm weather and it being light in morning and at night
and knowing they are safe i just left it up to them getting up and going to bed i always check on them in the morning (water changing)and after work for there treatslol and they all seem happy enough
oh the two that are sleeping out are the top of the pecking order

im happy to let them get on with it where they sleeping they can not get wet im just thinking will they go back in when it gets cold again
any thoughts on what i should do be great thanks

maybe it has been a bit warm in the hen house of late.  As long as they are safe enough I can't see a problem, I suspect they will go back in when weather changes for the worse

Nothing wrong with them sleeping out if the pen is fox-proof but if hens are reluctant to sleep indoors the first thing to do is check for red mite just in case they are making things uncomfortable.

Chickens will choose to sleep outside if there is red mite in their house.  Have a good hunt for it in the house, especially after dark
