been planting these from about  june and had really good germination and growth but most of the first ones i sowed have gone straight to seed not even a carrot underneath them they went straightn to seed and its the only thing letting me down this year(my first year)everything else im chuffed to bits with, the later ones dont seem to be going to seed(yet)what did i do wrong or is it a risk with this variety

I do not know the red samuri variety but carrots do not normally go to seed and if they do it is the fault of the seed grower. You will get the odd one but if you have many you should email the seed supplier with a photo and complain. Are your later sowings the same variety?

yes same variety keeping my fingers crossed but the first lot grew well at first then i saw the seed head, i thought they went to seed when you left them in too long but thesehad no carrot underneath

Tried them 2 years ago.
Same as you: germinated, grew, seeded(100%).
Did it all pretty quick so no chance at pulling them at anything resembling a carrot stage.

Didn't bother the next year or again.

I also planted some yellow ones at the same time.
About half of those went to see in the first few weeks.

After that I gave up and reverted to common everyday orange ones.
They don't seem as bad.

If I recall the Red Samuari never even came close to making a carrot. Just a plump root, greenery and seeds.
