Tomato discolouring
« on: July 15, 2009, 21:15 »
Hi,

My neighbour has asked me to post the picture below of a problem he is having with his tomatoes. As you can see, the base is discolouring to a black colour.
Any idea what could be causing this?
Thanks
Steve

Looks like blossom end rot possibly caused by erratic watering.
Cheese makes everything better.

Ice is right
Blossom end rot for sure, it leads (I think) to a calcium deficiency and causes black rot at then end of the toms..nothing can be done Im afraid

Here's the RHS page on blossom end rot for your info  :(
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Tomato leaves discolouring... disease, or just dehydrated?
