Ants on and around shrubs shrubs
« on: July 15, 2009, 13:32 »
Hi everyone
I have a few fruit shrubs and I've recently noticed they're swarming with ants.
The ants dont seem to be eating the fruit, or the leaves, but they're definatly acting in a walking to food/walking back with food manner.
Are they eating something I want eating?  Are they eating my plant somehow?

Anyone got any ideas?
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

Just a personal point of view. I have them on my fruit trees and assume they are either eating the bugs or farming the sap or juice. I just assume they arent harming anything as I dont have a problem with my fruit. (plums apples cherries pears etc. )
Oh for those halcyon days of England long ago

Mine are mainly farming the aphids.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
