Pea plants are dying !??!
« on: July 12, 2009, 19:33 »
Hello all,

After some advice. Planted 4 Pea plants, all took well and started well.
Plant 1 died before any crops about 5 weeks ago. Plants 2 & 3 have started to bear peas but are dying. The leaves are going yellow and the stems look pale green / yellow.

Only plant 4 is alive and well.

I had a small blackfly problem but treated all the plants with a weak soapy solution. NO snails or slugs...and no birds either. And the runner beans that are about 3 foot away are doing well.

Neighbour has same problem, her plants are dying as well.

The peas I have picked taste GREAT !

Thanks

Tony

I'm only saying could be!

4 pea plants though? You really need 12-15 for each foot of row.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Yeah only 4 plants but I wanted to see what would take as my plot had been vacant for yonks and has been flooded, marestail, coutesgrass, etc........and only had enough time to dig out a single small bed for them !

Next I know to plant in a bigger bed !

Reading the link posted They may of suffered from that very hot dry spell about 2 weeks ago

Thanks

Tony
