I would say go with pots if it was earlier in the year and cooler.  At this time of the year compost in pots becomes dry and hot very quickly which caulies will not like. Also there is the extra cost of the compost which could work out to be quite a bit if there are a lot to do and it makes more work.  But just my opinion, the important thing is to do what works for you.

I think that Spring (and I mean only spring) caulies/cabbages can be such a hassle that its worth the input.  I know what you mean Spana about the watering etc, but I have to do my toms and peppers still, so its not a real chore to add them to it.  Compost in 3' pots costwise isnt that much unless you grow enough to feed a street or 12
Got to admit Im trying it this year, but summer caulies havent been great due to bolting for my mates, so Im trying this time of year on advice of good people

I find pots in my back garden a lot easier to look after, than seedlings in the plot 2 miles away. :lol:
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
