Hi all!

We have just got two Aylesburies and was wondering how long do they take to mature before they are for the chop?
They are a couple of weeks old now.

Generally they say kill at 10 weeks. They will have reached their slaughter weight, be very tender and not yet have started to moult into their nuptial plummage. Once they have started to moult they will have hundreds of pin feathers that are a nightmare to pluck so you are better of waiting till they have completed the moult which can be by about 16 weeks.

I did the 10 weeks and it was a nightmare, would wait till after moult if I were to do it again

I was going to do the 10 week thing but kind of missed to boat and they were moulting so waiting for the finish of moult. Now I will pretend it was deliberate!
