all about feathers

one of the ex batts since i have had them last august has never grown feathers over 1/4 of her body an she always looks rough like shes been dragged though a bush backwards any ideas why ?? also what can i do or use to stop tail feathers being plucked out i have one girl with haardly any tail feather , another one has lost some of her main wing feathers do they start moulting at this time of the year .
