Finally!!!
« on: July 08, 2009, 14:50 »
Finally after expecting nothing this year, have just started harvesting first lot of homegrown veg, yey  :)

Even the calabrese which I was not hopeful for has produced some tasty looking florets!  Only problem now is that something seems to be eating all my leaves (of everything!)  Unfortunately my veg patch is under quite a lot of tree cover, so could it be something from the trees?  I have checked all leaves and found nothing, just a lot of holes on leaves from potatoes, parsnips, pumpkins, cabbage, broccoli, runner beans and beetroot - could it be the same thing affecting them all?

Any help? :)
I have a pair of secateurs and I'm not afraid to use them!!

My first thought would have been slugs ,however not sure they attack potato haulms. How high up the canes are the runner bean leaves being attacked.

Could be flea beetle ... they go for anything. See if the holes look like anything in this link : http://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/problem-solving/garden-pests-flea-beetle/

Can you see any slug trails on leaves? They are munching through everything on my garden, including the potatoes, but I can see a trail. Just set some beer traps hopefully these will slow them down!

No slug trails visible, so not sure it is slugs.  Beans are a dwarf variety so do not need canes.
Thanks for link ben, possibly is flea beetle, just wish I could catch sight of the little bu**ers >:(
