Flowering Broccoli
« on: July 08, 2009, 12:23 »
One of my 6 plants has started to flower......why and is there any thing I can do to "save" the plant......and to stop the others going the same way?

Thanks

i find with mine, that you just have to gamble yield against flowering.

If you leave them long enough, the heads will flower, the broccoli we eat is just imature flowers so just pick it and eat it.

If its going to flower with very small heads the plant may be unhappy with water or other problems (root issues/pests)

I had 8 good heads left, with one i left too long thats gone totaly to flower
I hate signatures but love irony

Its all down to the weather  loads of sun- plenty of water,
the plants are miles ahead of themselves,
now its down to Us to pick or not to pick...thats the gamble we have to take..
