a problem with marrows

looking at my marrows today i noticed a lot of small ones that are touching the ground    and the ends have rotted,     when i touched them they just fell off      any advice ??

The first ones often don't set, same as with courgettes.

I take it that they are outside where the insects can get to them to pollinate them. You could always hand pollinate to be on the safe side.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

D'you mean the marrows themselves are rotting? If they're sitting in water when it rains then you could try supporting them on straw, pallets or something, as you do for squash? - just a thought.

My first courgettes did the same, not sure wether its right or not but i have been taking flowers off the end as soon as they die off so it doesnt go to the courgette. The flowers do some times fall of as soon as they die i just take ones off that havent .

first ones often soft just cut them off until the crop starts coming on properly they will come good

Ye gods, does this mean it aint just me consistently losing the first few off each plant apparently regardless of whatever I attempt?  Well paint me red and call me ripe....

they didnt need cutting off    i very lighty touched them an they fell off   ill try pulling the flowers off     ans supporting them    thanks all

First time Ive grown and thats what Im doing
