Am I underfeeding my babies???

Hello poultry peeps!

You probably know that I have 3 Cream Legbar girl babies at present (I've been banging on about them for ages). I have been weighing them when I can persuade them to stand on the scales, and today they weighed 163 grams for the littlest and 179 grams each for the other 2. They are 4 weeks old tomorrow.

I thought they were growing well, but comparing them with the cream legbar girlies on this lovely website http://www.broodyhen.co.uk/ket/fowlnotfoul/MMplus/chicks/cmlbpullets2000.htm I see that Moojee and Pita weighed more than 200g at the same age.

Mine range with mum all day in the big run, and sometimes go out on grass in a small run. They are too little to run free with the big girls yet. They get chick crumbs and I've just bought them some growers' pellets, but like my big girls they seem to much prefer the food they find for themselves (or that Mum finds for them, natch  ).

I'm not underfeeding them, am I? Is that why they peep all the time?  :blink:

chicks do peep all the time, when it was cold  I had 20 in a cage in the spare room and they peeped all night, in the end  I thought  I could hear them  even when they were asleep
