Are you sure goldy head is an araucana?  Mine are all fluffy with topknots!  Doesn't look very cockerelly!!!

Oh and I know my black one is a cockerel now, he started to crow yesterday!!!!  He's 13 weeks old now.

 :ohmy:oooh! well if any of mine are cockerals i hope they haven't started yet as they're the same age.  My OH looks after them when i'm not there. What a laff!  Oh i just don't know about my three.  I'm sure they all are araucanas as the lady i got them off only breeds lavendars, blacks and maran cross araucanas.  It's bugging me now LOL! I guess it's not over til the fat cockerel crows!

 :ohmy:OMG Debbie! That's pretty much like my bird isn't it  Oh. I've had a strong feeling all the way along and been really bugged by this one. I am allowed to take any back if they turn out to be cockerals. Thing is i've become rather fond of 'him'.  I shall have to ask the curator who lives at the museum if he's heard the bird at all early morning. That's if he doesn't complain first before i get to him ha ha.

Thanks for all the posts. They have really helped me. Sorry i have no expertise to help you though!
I've three lavender araucana chicks that i have been studying for any differences. Finally it seems to be coming out!
They are about 5 weeks old but i have noticed that two have a more red area at the top if their beak. The third has nothing. So I am thinking 2 cocks and 1 hen.
My four speckled sussex chicks - same age- all have newly emerging combs the same BUT the feathering so different it's obvious that one's a hen and three are cocks.
I shall endeavor in the next few days to master the loading of photo's.
