DON'T MENTION SWEDE!  >:(

I take it your don't-mention-s**** are being a bit problematic too?  :(

Mine are wonderful - the vegetable world's version of wire coat-hangers.... all thin and bendy but with hardly a bit of green leaf left hanging on them!  >:(

I cannot grow swede, nor can anyone else on our site.

Had my best year last year.

Did a 30' row sown direct & thinned and also about 36 transplants.

Got 6 swede from the lot - HOWEVER - that was a site record!

Got 3 from each lot, so it didn't make a lot of difference.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Cucumbers are being slow this year for me. Just enough to keep me going. The outdoor one refuses to budge at all - the only one from 12 seed!

However, having cracked caulis & harvesting 50 so far - I'm happy!

we did our swede in potting compost in old toilet rolls planted them out once seedlings were above soil.  Sowed 3 seeds per roll and thinned out before planting - helped with keeping the weeds down.  Excellent results so far swede are growing really well.

cheers

White fly decimated my swede within 2 days of being planted out.  :( If it ever stops raining I may sow some more.
