Gutters
« on: June 23, 2009, 15:03 »
I want gutters for my shed, but don't want to fork out for B&Q/Wickes mini guttering + joins + end stops + supports........etc. Any ideas as to something that might do instead? :)

Why not? They are as cheap as chips.  Did my shed for 10 quid.

Indeed they do. 2 x 2Mt lengths, 8 supports, 2 end stops, 2 ends with a down turn, plus downpipe tops 25 quid. OK, maybe I'm just mean, but there has to be a cheaper way to 'knock something up' ?

Wickes

Actually its gone up a couple of quid or I bought it during a sale week.

Same set up would cost about 15 quidlets now.  Basic pipe, gutter, end cap, end cap wth down pipe join and a few clips to hold it.

Phone a company or builder up who does facias and soffets, they have to go to the trouble of getting rid of the old guttering. We've just had ours done and i took the clips and everything. Give some a ring, don't get anything without asking!

I got my bits from Focus and I did the shed guttering for around £12.

Trouble with anything you'll get off Freecycle is that there is a reason someone doesn't want it - usually, it's old and knackered. Personally, I'd bite the bullet and at least have something that won't need renewing for years.

Don't get me wrong, I've had some fantastic items through Freecycle and I hope you get what you need and save it from landfill.

If you get too much guttering from a builder you can cut them into meter lengths to sow peas etc in. You can never have too much guttering!
