using crocks?
« on: June 23, 2009, 08:45 »
Hiya just wondered if anyone knows whether i can use  ordinary cups and plates broken up as i have got loads that are old and chipped , i know that you can use things like teracotta pots but just wondered if household crockery would be suitable instead in the bottome of pots for drainage, any help would be good  :)

Hi Dexter, I do sometimes!  old plates and things.  Haved one for years, you just got to remember when you empty them out that they may have sharp edges!  :)

I wrap up crocks in an old bit of pea or pond netting so when you tip the pot out its easy to retrieve....

Thank you Stree , will be wrapping them up from now on , thats gonna make a big difference instead of picking all the bits out as we are having alot of pots to plant in at the moment as my 3 girls are having a blast in the garden growing things   :)
