Sorry - seriously stupid question alert.
« on: June 21, 2009, 20:06 »
Please feel free to laugh and throw cyber rotten fruit at me but how do i sharpen my hoe? I'm guessing not with my kitchen knife sharpener.

Like the user name suggests - total novice at this veggie gardening thing. Never even owned a hoe before this weekend!!!
Kate
Always thankful for advice!

A b*stard file is the tool to ask for. A cheap angle grinder will do it but is infinately more dangerous.

I got a file out of the 99p shop and use that.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Are you lot hitting stones or something? Ive never had to sharpen mine yet.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Carefull if you are using an angle grinder. If you get the metal to hot you will weaken it and make the metal soft.
I may take my time.....but i'll get there in the end.
