Any Ideas whats ate cabbage
« on: June 19, 2009, 20:05 »
My cabbage has been eaten, it has been netted. What ever it is  has had a go at three others and it happens very quickly. Found a gap arround bottom of two that had been torn but this one is only open at the top at one end near runner beans.

Any help with sugestions as I feel like giving up thought I was doing well managed to keep the slugs down to just the odd one then this.

I dont think anything has eaten them, are they summer cabbage? if so they look as if they have split,i.e stayed in the ground too long.Lift them earlier.Though i might be wrong.

That was my first thought.

The damage looks more ripped than eaten.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Firstly Baz - it's not neccessarily you own doing. They can be sitting their minding their own business, happy to wait around and then wham! Heavy rain like we've had recently. I take it you've had a bit like us?

Secondly, if I'd given up every year there's been some sort of problem, I'd have given up 40 times now.
